Newsletter Guidelines
Writers' Guidelines
The Agape Street Ministry (ASM) Newsletter serves an important role as the voice for our Ministry and as a vital information source on topics such as prolife, religious life, missionary work, and more. In an attempt to stay consistent with our values and goals, we carefully screen all articles for appropriateness of content.
1. We request that writers send an e-mail (preferred) or written query when first contacting ASM. Please indicate approximate article length and which section of the newsletter (listed below). We will contact you on acceptance of an article and assume no responsibility for unsolicited articles.
2. Payment: At no time does ASM pay for articles of work.
3. Articles should be submitted on deadline in typed form (preferably in MS Word) with an approximate word count indicated. Please include a few sentences about yourself for the brief "author bio" we include at the end of many articles.
4. Articles for the ASM newsletter should be written in a journalistic style in order to be easily understood by those not immersed in missionary work or Agape Street Ministry. Unfamiliar terms, scientific language and jargon should be avoided or explained for the benefit of the reader. We are not interested in strident, opinionated writing. We want a balanced tone that will not alienate the casual reader.
5. We are interested in articles about working with women who work as prostitutes, prolife, religious life, Catholicism, conversion, and other inspiring topics.
6. If photos and/or artwork are available, please indicate so in your query. PLEASE DO NOT SEND ANY ART OR IMAGES UNTIL THEY ARE REQUESTED. We are not responsible for unsolicited artwork or images.
7. We reserve the right to edit for grammar, brevity, clarity and tone. We are a Roman Catholic organization and will do our best to ensure the works found in our newsletter are appropriate to the doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church - at all times.
8. We are always looking for new and innovative ideas for people to express their faith. If you have some quick 'snippets', e.g. how to start saying a family Rosary, or other such article, please feel free to submit these as well.
