Lord Renew Our Spirits
I look at all the destruction of human life in the world right now
and it makes me groan. God creates all these “eternal souls”
and the world destroys them with reckless abandon.
I watched a documentary on “human trafficking”, particularly
“sex slaves.” This reduced me to tears and heartache to
think of people finding themselves in such depraved and hopeless situations.
We know that all creation is groaning in labor pains even until now; and not only that, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, we also groan within ourselves as we wait for adoption, the redemption of our bodies, for in hope we are saved. Now hope that sees for itself is not hope. For who hopes for what one sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait with endurance. Romans 8:22-25
We often feel that we are swimming upstream against the current of public opinion or the harshness of the world. I fi nd that the only way I can continue to swim upstream is to hold on to Jesus, my Lifeline, and swim keeping my eyes trained on Him on the horizon. The day commences early in the morning with prayer in the Liturgy of the Hours, then scripture by reading the daily readings and readings that leads me through the entire bible each year and then Daily Mass which seems to scrape off the barnacles that collected the day before. Thus the swim commences a little easier each morning.
We are the children of God and must believe that God is in control and knows what is taking place in the world. Also, we must never lose the fact that Jesus won the battle over evil and we must exercise our life in that very Victory.
For creation awaits with eager expectation the revelation of the children of God. Romans 8:19
The world awaits for You and Me to reveal this Victory by bringing to the world the living Jesus in our words and our actions. Do not fear. Trust God. Put Jesus on your horizon and take steps towards him. The Lord wants to do greater things than we can imagine with our lives. Are you prayed up, read up and READY!
The favours of the Lord are not exhausted, His mercies are not spent: they are renewed each morning, so great is His faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23
We ask the Lord to Renew Our Spirits, to help us to Focus on His Victory and to keep Us in His Peace.
God bless, Pat.
